Warm spring weather...surfs up at Utah Lake!

Surfing on Utah Lake on Monday May 13th. It was 93 degrees out which was a record for that day. It was also my first day back on the surfboard since my knee replacement. I felt great and it was cool to be on the lake with the snow in the background.
I took a a two hour 2000' vertical ride on my single speed on Saturday May 11th to Ghost Falls in Corner Canyon. It was a good test to see how my knee would hold up. No problem but I was no speed demon.

April 26th: My first real post-op mountain climb: Provo Peak, 11,068 feett

Provo Peak is in the middle: it is a 4000 foot climb.

All three of us (Jim, dog and me) drove about 30 minutes on dirt and snow to get to the starting point.

We started climbing at about 7:30 AM

The views on the way up were magnificent!

Jim ahead of me on the ridge as the sun comes up.

There were a few false summits but we are close to the top now.

The line of our ski descent is behind me.

I pull the tie-dye out on special occasions. It was actually quite chilly on tap with a nice breeze.

Right in the middle of the gully the snow was creamy powder...about 30 feet from side to side. If you strayed out of this sweet spot it could be crusty. Further down is was supportable firm pack and corn snow.

Jim went up Provo Peak again today and took a picture of an avalanche that came down the area where we hiked up and skied down. It must have happened in the afternoon when things really warmed up.

Clear blue sky and perfect snow will put a smile on your face anytime! Snowbird on April 24th

Skiing in Mineral Basin. Life is good when your out on the slopes.

The Chamonix Chutes are behind me. The mountains surrounding me remind me of where I was last year at this time: heading up to Camp 2 on Mt. Everest.

April 20th: From snow to dirt, from self-propelled to engine-propelled.

I have not been on a dirt bike for a few years. It was fun to get out and play in the hills. I was careful but the more I rode the more I wanted to ride. Steep hill climbs kept beckoning me. i survived and no damage to my knees. It was actually pretty good therapy.
